Encouragement Group Ground Rules
Our Purpose: to build and maintain relationships with foster and adoptive parents in order to encourage one another.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
We are parent led, we are not professionals, most of these meetings will not count as training hours.
Ground Rules
Encouragement: the action of giving someone support, confidence or hope.
From Merriam Webster – something that makes someone more likely to do something.
1) Everything we do at these meetings will fit into the definition of encouragement.
2) We will not allow gossip, complaining, or talking down others (especially birth parents, children, agencies).
3) If conversation takes a negative tone, we will redirect the conversation. If a person continues to gossip or excessively complain, we will speak with them privately.
4) Please refrain from using the names of foster children, birth parents, and caseworkers.
5) Childcare is not available, please make arrangements for a sitter.
6) You each have a purpose here! Be interactive!
